The primary piece in this body of work expresses a deep sadness and sense of hopelessness at being dis-connected from an unborn baby.  The item of clothing belonged to a child who existed emotionally, physically and psychically for me, but never came into existence for herself, how do you reconcile that loss?

This led to an energetic re-imagining of my own babyhood and all that is lost in the process of moving through childhood.  Throughout the process of making these pieces I had a profound sense of advocating for my own child artist.

The empty garments; a metaphor for loss, represent emotional abandonment.  They are suspended in negative space, symbolising the aloneness of being unattached, unclaimed, without nurture, without roots, not held, ungrounded……UNTETHERED

This collection is not merely about absence but also an exploration of the complexities surrounding identity, love, and the fragility of existence. Each piece explores the nature of connection, or the lack thereof, and reflects on experiences of loss and hope. Through this work, I aim to capture the essence of longing and the enduring bond that transcends even the absence of physical presence.
